Historical Significance of the Ring
Throughout history, the ring has played an important part in the lives of God's people. When Abraham's servant asked Rebekah to become the wife of Isaac, he gave her a ring (Gen.24:22). When Pharaoh set Joseph over the land of Egypt, he took off his ring - the official seal of authority - and put it on Joseph's hand. When the prodigal son returned home, "the father said to his servants, "Quickly, bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand..."' (Luke 15:22)
